What is My Purpose?

I often hear the question:

Am I doing what I am supposed to be doing?

What is my purpose in life?

Know that whatever it is you're doing, that is what you are meant to be doing!

Our human nature and ego demands that be "worthy", that we should be busy doing things. It is a concept ingrained in us from the day we start school.

We are conditioned to believe we should be making a lot of money, and that success means a great shiny car and a great shiny house filled with the latest stuff the current favorite "influencer" recommends.

When we incarnate into human bodies, we are shrouded in a veil of forgetfulness. We are given a blank slate to experience life in order to live our lives as ego-driven humans. We are presented with choices every step of the way and we are allowed to make mistakes because we learn from our life lessons.

I have always loved this poem by the 17th Century poet, John Milton.

Sonnet 19: When I consider how my light is spent

When I consider how my light is spent,
Ere half my days, in this dark world and wide,
And that one Talent which is death to hide
Lodged with me useless, though my Soul more bent
To serve therewith my Maker, and present
   My true account, lest he returning chide;
“Doth God exact day-labour, light denied?”
I fondly ask. But patience, to prevent
That murmur, soon replies, “God doth not need
Either man’s work or his own gifts; who best
Bear his mild yoke, they serve him best. His state
Is Kingly. Thousands at his bidding speed
And post o’er Land and Ocean without rest:
They also serve who only stand and wait."

Observe the photograph of the heron at the top of the page.
Notice its stillness.
Ponder upon this:

Be still and know that I am God

It's okay to just BE.
